SOME GREAT EVENTS THIS WEEKEND (and Monday)
Submitted by Janette Maring on July 11, 2008 - 12:02am
Wreath Laying at the Gravesite of President Ford
On Monday July 14th (in honor of the 95th anniversary of his birth) there will be a Wreath Laying at the gravesite of President Gerald R. Ford and the public is invited.
This event will be held at 10:00 AM and will last approximately one hour. Three wreaths; from President Bush, from Mrs. Ford, and from the Ford Children will be placed by Major General Thomas Cutler and Ford Children.
I am sure that the family would love to see some Scouts in uniform there!!
Further information can be found at http://www.fordlibrarymuseum.gov/
The Crossroads of America Scout Band of Indianapolis, Indiana
On Saturday July 12th the Crossroads Scout Band will be in Grand Rapids as a start to their 2008 Performance Tour. It is our privilege to have set up a concert with these talented Scouts at the Michigan Home for Veterans and YOU are invited to join them. For over 91 years they have been entertaining the masses and you will REALLY ENJOY their program. To see more about them please go to http://www.scoutband.com/
For many years all Scout Councils had a Scout Band (yes, WE DID!) and they spent time at camp together practicing and then did concerts.
The event will be held at the Veterans Facility at 3000 Monroe NW, north of Ann Street at their pavilion and will start at 5:30 and last for about one hour!

Day Camp Update
Please note the following changes for this year's day camp and if you would be so kind as to forward this information to your units, I would be very appreciative of it.
- For the Central Park site: Day camp will run from Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23 (instead of July 22-24).
- For Beechwood Hills site: This location is no longer available. New site to be announced very soon.
As a friendly reminder, Scouts will need to provide their own lunches and coolers each day at camp.
