Publicity & Local Newspapers
Pack 3049 (Lakewood Elementary, Holland) was featured in the Holland sentinel today for collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program. This kind of publicity is great! The public needs to see our scouts doing scout-like stuff. These kind of articles show the public that your unit is actively teaching the boys the values that make scouting so great. Way to go, Randy!
This is a good reminder to the rest of us to do better about publicizing our boys' Good Turns. I know it's been a couple of years since I sent anything to the Sentinel about our boys. Anybody else been in the paper and want to share?
If anyone find articles on scouting in there area could you please get me a copy of the article for my arcives. Thank you
Ryan Kriesch
District Executive
Pack 3006 (Corpus Cristi, Holland) was also featured in the Holland Sentinel for collecting toys for Toys for Tots in December.
There was an article in the GR Press yesterday about a search for a bone marrow donor for a Cub Scout from Pack 3055 (Holland).
A companion piece was in the Holland Sentinel today.
Pack 3049 is in today's Holland Sentinel (May 1) for helping clean up the property of their charter sponsor Lakewood Elementary School. The Logan family was also present and helping, although had to leave before we took the picture, sorry.

BYRON TOWNSHIP -- Herald Sweet couldn't be prouder:
His three grandsons have followed in his footsteps to
achieve top honors in the Boy Scouts.
Twins Andrew and Aaron Mitchell and their cousin David
Sweet, all 18, received their Eagle Scout badges recently
during a ceremony at Byron Center United Methodist Church.
SPRING LAKE — By working towards their Emergency Preparedness badge, Cub Scout Pack 3054, Den 3, is learning what it takes to become ready for a possible emergency situation.
On Monday night at Spring Lake Baptist Church, the scouts put together basic emergency supply kits from material donated by North Ottawa Community Hospital.
ROBINSON TOWNSHIP — A local Cub Scout pack held its annual Blue and Gold Banquet on Saturday night, while also celebrating 100 years of scouting in America.
The Robinson Township Pack 3032 banquet included the scouts' crossover ceremony, which signifies the boys' crossing over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.
This annual rite of passage was different than past Blue and Gold banquets, because this year is the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America.

The Grand Haven Tribune has a nice article about a boy from Pack 3165 selling $2,772 in popcorn. This earned him bragging rights as the top Lakeshore District salesperson and a college scholarship.
