Venturing Food, Fire & Fun
What is Food, Fire, and Fun ??
Every year the Venturing Officers Association of the Gerald R. Ford Council host a day for Venturers to get together and simply hang out, socialize and have fun. This activity is called Food, Fire, and Fun and will be held at the DeVos Family Center for Scouting. The event is designed for Venturing Crews to come and meet new Venturers from other Crews and exchange ideas, and
simply have fun.

Venturing Adult Leader Specific Training
Developed for Venturing Advisors, Associate Advisors, and Crew Committee Members, this training introduces the new adult leader to Venturing by providing basic information needed to successfully operate a crew. This information includes the purpose and mission of Venturing; characteristics of Venturing aged youth; organization and leadership of the crew; program planning and officer training.
There are five sessions: Here's Venturing, Understanding and Protecting Youth, Leadership and Organization, Awards and Recognition, and Resources and Program Planning.

Change in Age Requirements for Venturing

The following Board Resolution was passed during the recent National Executive Board and Committee Meetings in Washington DC:
WHEREAS, the current age and grade eligibility requirements for participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and completion of the eighth grade, and
WHEREAS, the Program Content Committee has recommended that, effective May 1, 2010, the age requirement be changed to 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Article VII, Section 2, Clause 2 (a) of the BSA Rules and Regulations be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows:
Venturer- Be 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade, or be 14 years of age or older, and not yet 21 years of age.
